Bedfordshire Carers Support Service
Central Bedfordshire Council, Bedford Borough Council and NHS Bedfordshire recognise the vital role carers play in helping vulnerable people experience as much independence and quality of life as possible. That is why the three organisations in partnership are seeking a consortium or single organisation to provide support services for carers across Bedfordshire (excluding Luton).
Carers are people of all ages, including young people, who provide unpaid care to relatives, partners, friends or neighbours who are ill, frail or elderly or who have a mental health or substance misuse problem.
Consortia or single organisations are invited to tender for this 18 month contract, which will include the provision of:
- Awareness raising within the community
- Advice and information
- A Carers Cafe and NHS Carers Breaks service
- One to one support for a diverse range of carers
- Training to support carers in their caring role
- Support for carers to engage with commissioners and providers of services
Prospective contractors must be able to demonstrate previous experience of similar work and be prepared to provide references.
Applications are welcome from single organisations or consortia from the public, private and voluntary/community sector as well as User-led Organisations.

Closing Date for PQQs will be 12:00 midday on 21 May 2011.
To allow sufficient time to complete the PQQs the closing date for expressions of interest will be 12:00 midday 9 May 2011.
